"Maybe you could use a little TLC"
TLC - Therapeutic Life Coaching
Coaching is useful for individuals such as overachievers, multitaskers, and creatives looking to gain greater insight and objectivity into their process while aspiring towards optimal performance and more satisfying connection in relationships. Since everything is a relationship, it is worth examining patterns of relating (to self, others, work, goals, finances) in order to uncover what may no longer be effective. Coaching differs from therapy by focusing on a specific project or goal (i.e. pursuing a degree, writing a book/a dissertation, starting a new business/a career transition, creating a new concept, dating/marriage, wellness goals, etc.).
Sometimes during the coaching process a person recognizes they could benefit from a few therapy sessions to process and heal blocks. Please visit the Treatment page for further information if this interests you.

Optimal Experience: Get in the Flow
Psychologist Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi's famous investigations of "optimal experience" have revealed that what makes an experience genuinely satisfying is a state of consciousness called flow. During flow, people typically experience deep enjoyment, creativity, and a total involvement with life. Activities used to move towards flow state include:
- Identifying Extrinsic vs. Intrinsic Motivations (with Intrinsic Motivations leading to resultant Self-Esteem)
- What Reinforces Your Behavior: Sensory, Escape/Avoidant, Attention, Tangible (SEAT)
- Recognizing Introjects and the Drive to Evolve
- What's Your Purpose (or Dharma)? = Authenticity and Level of Commitment
- External Power vs Authentic Power
- Detouring/Clearing the Field/Follow Through
- Realistic Assessment of Time to Completion/Impulsive Mind vs. Wise Mind
- Shifting from a Lack Mentality to an Abundance Mentality
- Accepting that Life is Hard & Change is Inevitable/Building Resilience
Hero's Journey
Based on the work of Depth Psychologist, Carl Jung, and created by Joseph Campbell, The Hero's Journey is a way to conceptualize the process by which we move through various experiences in life. The entirety of one's life can be seen as a Hero's Journey as well as identifying the many other Hero's Journeys we take along the way. For instance, you may be embarking upon a marriage/relationship, a career transition, parenthood, starting a business, a wellness plan, etc., and each one of these endeavors can be seen as a "journey." Hero's Journey is often comprised of the following elements:
- Hero's Journey Map
- Shadow Work, Transmuting and Transcending
- Storytelling (examining your personal narrative and meaning-making)
