Alternatives to Psychotropic Medications
Psychotropic Medications
Although a lot of presenting problems can be worked through in therapy, sometimes there is a need for additional medication support for awhile which is often best practice. Collaborative care with your doctor/psychiatrist will be provided to ensure quality care, including a titration plan as you heal/learn new skills leading to possible dose reduction, and perhaps an eventual elimination of the support of psychotropic medications.
Please Note: It is highly encouraged that a thorough medical exam take place prior to (or within the past year) the start of therapy since certain medical conditions can contribute to the manifestation of some anxiety and stress-related disorders.
It is recommended that you have a blood panel completed to check for any vitamin deficiencies such as:
Vitamin B
Vitamin D
It is also recommended that you have your thyroid checked as a rule-out since hyper/hypo thyroid issues can cause symptoms of anxiety/depression
